Farewell to Assoc. Professor Maria Gratziou Share

by Ryan Alexander/Emilia Yang

This week CWR said farewell to Assoc. Professor Maria Gratziou, who has been visiting the Centre on sabbatical from the Department of Civil Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace Greece.

Over the past five months at CWR, Maria has used the coupled hydrodynamic-biological model ELCOM-CAEDYM to simulate a wastewater stabilization pond system in Greece. Maria explained the motivation for this work when she presented a CWR seminar in March titled “Alternative Proposals for Wastewater Process Management in Greece-Multi Criteria Analysis.”

Apart from her academic work at the Centre, Maria impressed everyone by hosting a lunch at the Centre last week. The delicious Greek style banquet was prepared by Maria as a thank you to CWR staff and students for support and friendship during her stay at CWR

She will be missed by all at CWR and we wish her a safe trip home to Greece.
