On November 5th, CWR's Swan-Canning River Basin Online project for schools will be launched at St Hilda's. The Schools project is part of a larger management project been undertaken in the Swan-Canning River Basin.
Over the last three months, CWR has worked with Millennium Kids, a youth environmental organisation and six schools to develop an interactive web tool using google earth to engage the students with the Swan-Canning River Basin. Work undertaken by the students have focussed around recreational uses of the Swan-Canning River through time and Indigenous relationships with the river system. The schools involved are St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls, Wesley College, Penrhos College, Sevenoaks Senior College, Aquinas College and South Perth Primary School.
Over the last few months, Catrina and her team from Millennium Kids have worked with the above schools to develop a series of educational templates, facilitate workshops framed within aspects of the curriculum, compile and collate a range of work by students and upload these using various web based tools onto google earth.
The students from the above schools will be presenting their work to parents, teachers and friends on November 5th at 6.00 at the St Hilda's Chidley Campus .
